Pharmacovigilance Awareness & Training Programme

The Department of Pharmacology organized a specialized awareness and training programme to observe the 5th NATIONAL PHARMACOVIGILANCE WEEK (17th – 23rd September 2025) under the Theme: “Your Safety, Just a Click Away: Report to PvPI” on 17th September, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

This programme aimed to bring together diverse perspectives from clinicians and pharmacists to researchers and students, so that we may learn, discuss and collaborate. It was designed not only to impart knowledge, but also to create awareness and build capacity through carefully planned sessions.

These sessions provided the audience with insights into the reporting mechanisms, the role of regulatory authorities and importance of building a robust culture of Pharmacovigilance in our institution.

The program commenced with a warm welcome address from Dr. Ramya KN, Associate professor of Pharmacology, setting the tone for an engaging and collaborative learning experience followed by lamp-lighting by the Principal Dr. Pravin. G.U, Medical Superintendent Dr. Roshan Kumar B N, Professor & HOD of Pharmacology Dr. Santhosh Kumar M, and Heads of Departments of various disciplines.

The program was attended by more than 100 nursing students, staff and faculty from multiple departments ensuring a fruitful exchange of knowledge.

Dr. Santhosh Kumar M, Professor & HOD of Pharmacology at SCMCH&RI, opened the session by providing comprehensive overview of the Pharmacovigilance programme.
Dr. Neha K, Associate Professor Pharmacology at SCMCH&RI, introduced the audience to the structure of the ADR form.

The highlight of the event was the hands-on training session on ADR reporting facilitated by Dr. Tejashwini K, Associate Professor, and Dr. Pavithra HG, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology. Students showed excellent participation throughout the session.

The program successfully reinforced the importance of regular ADRs reporting and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Narayanamurthy BV, Associate Professor of Pharmacology at SCMCH&RI for coordinating the event, and enthusiastic participation of attendees.

We look forward to organizing more such interactive and informative sessions to promote a culture of safe and responsible pharmacological practice.
