Discipline

Discipline is the foundation on which the institution functions. As students of this prestigious College, it is incumbent on all to develop self-discipline of the highest degree. It should, therefore be the endeavor of every medical student to observe all the rules and regulations as a matter of habit rather than fear of the consequences. Students will at all times, conduct themselves with proper decorum and cultivate correct manners and etiquette.

Mode of Address

While addressing officers, medical students will use the word “Sir/Madam and in a manner which will show proper respect.

Prohibition of Ragging

Any form of ragging is strictly prohibited in this institution which includes abusing, harassing, ill-treating, man-handling, bullying or awarding undignified or unauthorized punishment to a student by any other student. Anti-ragging cell will take strict disciplinary action against any student indulging in ragging and he/she may be expelled from college, if found ragging.

Dress Code

Clean white Apron, ironed and fully buttoned with Name Plate (Identity card will be issued by the institution) should be worn by all students over dress compulsorily during theory, practical, dissection, ward work and field work. At other times it should be neatly folded and carried. No student shall wear aprons outside the college campus or any other public place.

Boys Boys should wear formal dress, shoes and should be clean shaven.
Not Permitted Jeans, T-shirt, sport shoes, floaters, slippers, ear-piercing, body piercing, body tattooing, fancy hair style, caps & sunglasses.
Girls Formal Dressing: Girls should dress decently as mentioned below:

  • Salwar-Kameez
  • Knee length kurta with Patiala
  • Long kurta (below Knee) anarkali with full length leggings Saree (Cotton/silk/simple synthetic)
  • Well groomed hair tied either as pony / plait and should be off the face
  • Clean & well-trimmed nails.
  • Accessories which can be worn watch, ear studs / small earrings, one or two bangles, short neck chains.
  • Formal shoes / sandals
  • Religious attire which reveals the identity of religion like Burkha, hijab etc., is not permitted.
Not Permitted Western wear / tight fittings tops, fancy sarees – blouse, fancy hair accessories / colouring / hairstyle / flowers, bright make up (flashy lipsticks/mascara/eye shadow) body tattooing, ornaments – jingling anklets / large earrings, heels not more than 2 inch / floaters /fancy slippers.

Classroom Discipline

  • Attendance / Biometric or both will be taken for each theory and practical classes.
  • Students are permitted to remain in the lecture rooms only during the hours of instruction.
  • The students should strictly behave during the working hours. If any student is found to be
    misbehaving, appropriate strict action shall be taken.
  • Students should have their own prescribed text books, instruments etc., Mobile phone
    should be switched off or kept in the silent mode.
  • Every student to whom books or other property like glasswares / apparatus / instruments
    are issued, they shall be held responsible for keeping it in good condition. In the event of
    books / apparatus being lost or damaged, they shall be required to replace it or pay its cost.
  • Students are responsible for the safe custody of their personal belongings
  • Edibles are not allowed inside the Theory / practicals halls. The food brought from café,
    coffee day outlets shall not be consumed inside the classrooms, teaching areas etc.,

Attendance

  • Regularity and punctuality in lectures, demonstrations, practical, clinical and assessments
    are compulsory.
  • Students, who do not maintain a satisfactory academic standard and conduct, will not be
    allowed to appear in the university examination and will not be allowed to hold any office in
    the college or participating in any extracurricular activities.
  • Minimum required attendance is 80% (both in Theory and Practicals/Clinicals) as per the
    regulations of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, for appearing in
    the university examination.

Examinations

  • Class tests / Internal examinations:- written, practical and viva will be conducted regularly
    to assess the student’s progress.
  • Marks obtained in these examinations will be taken into consideration in determining the
    eligibility for appearing in the university examinations.
  • The student should abide by the rules set by the University for Examination; any candidate
    violating these rules will be subjected to disciplinary action.

Damage

Students will not deface, mutilate or damage any building or property belonging to the college or
individual or cut/up-root any plants or trees especially in the college or hostel premises. Students
will not damage or deface desks, tables, seats and any other furniture within the institution.

Strictly forbidden in any part of the college campus are

  • Possession or use of alcoholic beverages and narcotic substances.
  • Smoking, tobacco, pan masala etc.,
  • Gambling
  • Possession or use of firearms or any lethal weapons.
  • Use of vulgar language and indulging in violence.

Correspondence / Communication

  • Students are forbidden to address directly, the higher authorities or Government. Direct
    communications intended for any higher authority must be submitted through the Dean /
    Principal who will forward them if it is needed.
  • A student wishing to meet the Dean / Principal or desiring to refer a matter to higher
    authorities will do so through proper channel.
  • Students should address all hostel related matters to the warden first and then to the Dean
    / Principal.
  • For any personal problems of distressing and confidential nature the students may directly
    approach Mentors, Wardens, Dean and Principal.

Employment / Business

  • Medial students are not permitted to take up any type of full time / part time employment
    or indulge in any kind of business during the course.

General Rules

  • The College does not hold itself responsible for debts incurred by the students.
  • Students are not allowed to display any notice(s) / Posters / banners within the institute,
    without prior permission from the office of the Dean / Principal. They are also forbidden to
    communicate with any outside agency / authority directly. All such communications must
    be submitted through the Principal, who will forward these to the office of the Chairperson,
    if considered / desirable. Any student infringing this rule may be suspended.
  • College fees must be paid in full by the dates specified by the College. The students and the
    parents are fully aware of the consequences of not paying the fess on time.
    Violating of these rules and regulations is viewed by the authorities as serious offence and in
    the first two instances fine may be levied depending upon the severity of the offence. Repeated
    offences may lead to disciplinary action leading to suspension / expulsion from the college. The
    College management has the full rights in determining the punishment.

  • Note: The College reserves the right to make changes in the Guidelines, Fee Structure
    or any other information at any time without prior notice. The decision of the College
    shall be binding on all.
