iHeartScan Workshop
Sri Chamundeshwari Medical College, Hospital and Research Institute, Bangalore, successfully hosted the iHeartScan Workshop on February 16th and 17th, 2025. This intensive two-day program focused on Haemodynamic Echocardiography Assessment in Real Time, promoting the concept of limited transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) for critical care decision-making.
The workshop was led by Dr. Shashikanth Manikappa, Director of Anaesthesia & Perioperative Medicine at Monash Health, Melbourne, and Course Director for iHeartScan India, along with renowned faculty Dr. B.G.R. Prasad, Director of Anaesthesia & Perioperative Medicine at Rockingham Hospital, Perth, and Prof. Dr. Sahajananda, Course Coordinator.
Participants engaged in a comprehensive learning experience, including pre-workshop eLearning modules, ten hours of focused hands-on training, and a post-workshop online examination. Core topics covered included basic transthoracic imaging, haemodynamic state assessment, cardiac output measurement, basic valve assessment using 2D and colour flow Doppler imaging, and structured iHeartScan examination and reporting.
The workshop highlighted the critical role of point-of-care echocardiography in patient management, aiming to equip clinicians with practical skills to rapidly assess haemodynamic status and detect life-threatening cardiac conditions at the bedside.
With limited spots and a highly interactive format, the workshop was well-received, and participants praised the balance between theory and extensive hands-on practice.
The success of the event reinforced the growing importance of structured, practical echocardiography training in critical care and perioperative settings. We look forward to more such enriching events in the future.
