Faculty Development Program

Sri Chamundeshwari Medical College, Hospital & Research Institute (SCMCH & RI), in collaboration with BioCipher Labs, organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on 17th November 2025 at the ACS Auditorium. Focused on Communication Skills for Healthcare Professionals and Advances in Molecular Diagnostics & Precision Health, the program saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members, nurses, laboratory technicians, interns, and administrative staff.
The event was organized under the guidance of Chief Patron Dr. A.C. Shanmugam, Patron Sri A.C.S. Arun Kumar, Managing Trustee Smt. Lalithalakshmi, Executive Director Dr. S. Vijayanand, Principal Dr. Pravin G U, and Vice Principals Dr. Nanjaraju and Dr. Manjula A Patil. The Scientific Committee, led by Member Secretary Dr. Dharani V. C., coordinated the program. The invited speakers were Dr. Suchitra R, Ophthalmologist and communication skills expert, and Dr. Gangadhar BHM, molecular biologist and biotechnology entrepreneur.
The FDP began with a welcome address and an introduction to the themes, followed by opening remarks from Principal Dr. Pravin G U, who emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and staying updated with evolving medical technologies.
Session 1, delivered by Dr. Suchitra R, highlighted the importance of effective communication in patient care and teamwork. Her interactive demonstration—where a sequence of actions passed through ten participants and changed significantly—powerfully illustrated how miscommunication occurs in clinical settings. Participants found the activity engaging and reflective of real-world healthcare challenges.
Session 2, led by Dr. Gangadhar BHM on Transforming Molecular Diagnostics and Precision Health in India, provided insights into precision diagnostics for infectious diseases, oncology, and reproductive health. He discussed the integration of AI with genomics and introduced innovative diagnostic platforms developed by BioCipher Labs, offering participants a clear view of the future of laboratory medicine.
Following the sessions, Dr. Deepthi, Professor of Pathology, shared her reflections on the program. A felicitation ceremony was held to honour the speakers.
The FDP concluded successfully, meeting its objectives of enhancing communication skills and exposing participants to advancements in precision health. More than 100 students and staff members attended the event.
The Scientific Committee—comprising Dr. Kirthana Kunikullaya U, Dr. Kruthi B. N., Dr. Deepthi, Dr. Dharani V. C., Ms. Sadhana, and Ms. Mallika—played a pivotal role in the smooth conduct of the program. The Committee looks forward to organizing more such enriching programs in the future.
