Kaituthu: SCMCH&RI’s Tradition of Care and Compassion
On March 20, 2025, Sri Chamundeshwari Medical College, Hospital and Research Institute hosted a heartwarming “Kaituthu” program under the leadership of Smt. Lalita Lakshmi, the Managing Trustee, as part of International Women’s Month celebrations at Anigere. The event beautifully combined compassion, health, and community spirit.
“Kaituthu,” meaning “handful feeding” or “feeding with one’s own hands,” symbolizes deep love, care, and tradition. Nurses at the hospital lovingly served nutritious meals to patients, embodying the belief that food nurtures not only the body but also strengthens emotional bonds across all backgrounds.
Along with the “Kaituthu” initiative, the event also featured a Free Health Check-up and Awareness Program, providing essential medical screening and health education to patients and attendees. This initiative aimed to promote preventive healthcare and empower the community with knowledge for better well-being.
By offering both physical nourishment and vital health support, the program created a holistic healing experience. It reinforced the value of simple acts of kindness and the importance of preserving traditions like “Kaituthu” for future generations.
The “Kaituthu” program and Free Health Check-up and Awareness Program at Anigere left a lasting impression on all participants, furthering the hospital’s mission to nurture a healthier and more compassionate community.
