World Diabetic Day – Walkathon

The Department of General Medicine at Sri Chamundeshwari Medical College, Hospital and Research Institute organized a walkathon on November 16, 2024, to raise awareness about World Diabetes Day. The event was held in collaboration with the Departments of Community Medicine, and with the support of the Maddur City Police and the Health & Family Welfare Department of Maddur Town.
The walkathon, which took place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., started at Maddur Town Satyagraha Soudha and concluded at the Maddur Government Hospital, TB Circle. Over 300 participants joined the event, including students, faculty and non-teaching staff of SCMCH & RI, along with members of the public, Health & Family Welfare Department staff, and police personnel. The primary objective of the walkathon was to educate the participants about diabetes, its risk factors, early diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. During the
walk, students displayed various placards highlighting the prevention and treatment of diabetes. The event concluded with a brief talk from doctors representing various departments.
A special thanks to the Department of General Medicine and the Department of Community Medicine for organizing the successful event. We also express our heartfelt gratitude to the Maddur City Police and the Health and Family Welfare Department of Maddur for their unwavering support and cooperation.
