Sri Chamundeshwari Medical College, Hospital & Research Institute (SCMCH & RI) organized a Specialty Health Camp under the ONE HEALTH Programme on 14 th November 2025 at Chamundeshwari Temple, Gowdgere. The camp aimed to integrate human, animal, environmental, and school health services, aligning with the holistic One Health approach.
Specialty doctors from General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, and Orthopaedics provided consultations, screenings, referrals, and free medicines to the public. More than 400 people benefited from these services, making the camp a significant community outreach initiative.
Animal health services were led by Veterinary Doctor Dr. Dilip, who conducted check-ups for livestock and domestic animals and provided deworming and treatment advice. Environmental health activities, including cleaning the temple surroundings and conducting a plantation drive, were carried out by the staff of Sri Chamundeshwari Medical College.
A School Health Programme was also conducted at Government Primary School, Gowdagere. Around 30 children underwent paediatric examinations, including general physical assessments and screening for common health issues. The Community Medicine team delivered a lively health education session on personal hygiene and healthy eating, supported by interactive games, quizzes, and demonstrations. The session was coordinated by Dr. Amulya, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine.
Interns assisted with registration and screening, while medico-social workers—Mrs. Ranjitha, Mrs. Aradhya, and Miss Chandini—played an important role in community mobilization and patient guidance. Photographer Mrs. Abhi documented the activities, and college staff ensured smooth logistics throughout the event.
The camp was successfully coordinated by Dr. Suhas S. R., Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine. Through its integrated activities, the programme improved access to healthcare, supported animal wellbeing, promoted environmental cleanliness, and strengthened awareness of hygiene and healthy practices, effectively highlighting the importance of the One Health
concept.
Kudos to the Department of Community medicine. We are eager to bring more health initiatives to the public in the days ahead.
